A rental unit is set up the same way a new or used rig we sell would be — as a complete package, not a proportioner handed over on its own. The equipment is inspected and tested before it goes out, so what arrives on your job site is ready to run, not something you're troubleshooting on day one.

Standard rental packages include a working proportioner from Graco, PMC, or Gusmer depending on availability and your job requirements, a generator sized to the proportioner's draw with appropriate headroom, a heated hose bundle rated for typical run lengths, a spray gun matched to the proportioner's output, and basic safety gear appropriate to operating the rig itself. We walk through the setup with your crew at delivery so there's no guesswork on start-up, ratio checks, or shutdown procedures specific to that unit.

Rental rigs are priced by the day, week, or month, and the term you choose should match how long you actually need the equipment rather than defaulting to the shortest option out of habit. Day rates with an operator included generally run in the $650-$950 CAD range, with the exact number depending on which proportioner and generator combination you need, whether you're renting the rig alone or with an operator, and how far the unit has to travel to reach your site.

Weekly and monthly terms are structured to bring the effective day rate down the longer you commit, which matters if you already know a job or a repair gap is going to run past a few days. Rather than publish a flat discount schedule that doesn't account for rig type or season, we quote week and month rates against the specific unit and dates you need — a proportioner in high demand during peak season prices differently than the same rig in a slower month. If you're not sure yet whether you'll need three days or three weeks, tell us the range when you call; it's easier to extend a rental already in motion than to renegotiate terms mid-job.

Rentals quoted at the standard day rate generally include an operator. If your own crew is certified to run the equipment and you'd rather self-operate, ask about a self-run rate when you request availability — pricing and insurance responsibility differ from an operator-included rental, and we'll walk through that difference before you commit.

Rental rigs are delivered and picked up anywhere in Canada, which is the point of a national rental fleet rather than a regional one — a rental only solves your capacity problem if the rig can actually get to your job site on your schedule. Delivery and pickup fees scale with distance from the nearest fleet location and with how much lead time you can give us to route the trailer alongside other scheduled deliveries.

The more notice you can give, the more delivery options and pricing flexibility you have — a rig booked a week ahead for a known job date routes far more efficiently than one requested for next-day delivery because a repair emergency just happened. That said, emergency turnarounds for a rig-down situation are exactly what this service exists for, so call even on short notice; we'll tell you honestly what's realistic for your timeline and location rather than promise a date we can't hit.

Plan for a basic site walk-through with the crew at both delivery and pickup — confirming placement, power access, and hose routing at drop-off, and a quick condition check at pickup — so there's no ambiguity about the state the rig left your site in.

The decision between renting and buying comes down to how many billable days a rig realistically sits idle in your operation versus how many days it's actually earning. A rig that runs full-time, every week, for a crew that has steady job volume almost always pencils out better owned or financed — the day-rate math of a purchase amortized over hundreds of billable days a year beats a rental day rate by a wide margin once you're past a certain utilization threshold.

Rental makes more financial sense on the other side of that line: overflow capacity you need a handful of times a year, a repair gap measured in days rather than months, a job outside your normal territory that doesn't justify relocating an owned rig, or a startup phase where you genuinely don't know yet whether job volume will support a second or third rig. In those cases, the cost of ownership — the payment, the insurance and maintenance responsibility, the capital tied up — outweighs paying a higher effective day rate for exactly the days you need the equipment and nothing more.
